Yippeeee! It's always a good day when hard work pays off and a wedding I've photographed gets featured on an amazing wedding blog. On Monday, Kat who runs the totally cool Rock N Roll Bride featured Brooke and Phil's gorgeous Indutrial style wedding. It's really great to be able to get my work out there to a wider audience, and Brook and Phil get to have a little 15 minutes of fame! I photograph so many weddings each year, and they are all so lovely and special, each in their own different ways. Sometimes there is something quite unusual about a wedding's styling and setting that it makes for brilliant viewing for bride and grooms to be on these wedding blogs and in wedding magazines. So here's the link to the feature, happy viewing!
Evie and Claire are two of the most friendly, chilled out people you could ever meet. For their wedding, I had no doubt that the day would be packed full of laughter and fun...and it was, all day, for every minute. The day started out with Evie and Claire finishing off the country-fair-esque decor in Cracoe village hall - loads of bunting hung in rows from the roof, completed with mismatched tea cups and wild flowers adorning the long tables. Guests slowly arrived with smiles and dished out massive hugs for the both of them. Their ceremony started with a unique move from the both of them, with Evie and Claire walking into the ceremony area together and their Mums close behind. It was a beautiful and refreshing humanist ceremony, including handfasting and a very moving shared speech made by both of the Dads. Garden games including horseshoe throwing, sack racing, egg and spoon race and beanbag throwing kept the guests thoroughly entertained in the afternoon! Then it was time for some proper Yorkshire Afternoon Tea, with scrummy food stacked high on cake tiers. I had to chuckle to myself the whole time I was photograping the after dinner spectacle that was the Bake Off...A pure genius idea for a wedding day! Guests brought homemade masterpieces in to be judges by Evie and Claire - who, to be fair, were pretty harsh critics. The results were in, and each winner recieved a custom made spoon, with the overall winner lucky enough to be crowned Star Baker with her very own apron!
India and Dave tied the knot over the weekend at a little known, but seriously special wedding venue called Gibson Mill. Located in the picturesque town of Hebden Bridge, Gibson Mill can be found nestled in the beautiful woodlands of Hard Castle Craggs and is the perfect place for an intimite wedding ceremony. As the day unfolded I got to know how what a sweet and loving couple these two are; nothing shows how much the moment meant more than when India cried through the whole ceremony - it was so endearing.
When I met Anna and John for their engagement session before their wedding, I couldn't get over how beautiful the light and location was for it. I was equally blown away by the whole wedding day experience with them in Robin Hoods Bay at the weekend. Anna wore possbily the most stunning Jenny Packham wedding dress I've ever seen. It was covered in beautiful gemstone and sequin detailing, and in the sunshine it just looked magical. The view from the reception venue, The Victoria Hotel , at the top of the cliffside was simply the best view I've ever seen on a wedding day before.
I've known Brooke and Phil for a few years now through one of my good friends, and I was lucky enough to get to photograph their gorgeous wedding last month at The Arches in Dean Clough, Halifax. Such a cool venue, and a super cool bride and groom to go with it. This day was so stylish from start to finish and full of special touches and moments that were so unique to anything else I've ever seen before. I mean, have you ever seen a Wainhouse Tower wedding cake before!? They also passed their rings around the ceremony guests to make a wish for them, which was such a sweet idea! Check out the highlights video to see what their beautiful day was like...
After being in the wedding industry for a good few years now, I've got to know some pretty special suppliers. There are a handful of people who I can hand on heart reccommend to do the most brilliant job for your wedding day, and one of those is Claire Bush from Sweet Sugar Sixpence. We've become great friends over the years and I always look forward to what her next cake creation will be. Every design is bespoke, which makes it all the more special and unique. I have ordered several cakes for my children from Claire and I'm always picking my jaw up off the floor when I first lay eyes on them! The cakes are always stunning, inventive and best of all they taste gorgeous. If you haven't ordered a wedding cake yet, then have a look through the gallery and you can see the cake awesomeness for yourself! http://happilyevercaptured.pixieset.com/sweetsugarsixpence/
Karen and Jody's wedding was to die for!! The first time I met both of them I knew that their wedding would be something extra special. Karen was so passionate about her ideas, and they were both so excited to make time and show their enthusiasm for their bride and groom portaits; on the day it was so easy to find beautiful things, moments and people to photograph. All that, as well as the beautiful Summer sun to compliment the day! Karen and Jody were not only passionate about their wedding ideas which included their lovely 'sneak peek' romantic meet up before they actually got married, their table full of guest-made cakes for dessert and a stunning blue pattenered background for their ceremony, but they are so so in love! They are a very sweet family with their gorgeous little boy, and I'm so happy I got to be there for this wedding - I know I'm not allowed to have favourite's but this was certainly a highlight of 2015...
Tom and Rachel's wedding had the prettiest styling I've seen in a long time! Tom's Dad painstakingly hand spray-painted all of the gold vinyl placemats! Wow, they were worth it! They went perfectly with the cute music sheet jars that were filled with a mixture of beautiful blush florals. We were treated to glorious sunshine for the whole wedding day, leaving plenty of time for outdoor drinking and relaxing to the incredible voice of Joe Moore (who Tom and Rachel spotted while he was busking, before inviting him to perform at their wedding!).
More from this amazing wedding coming soon...
2015 Has been full of beautiful, fun, sunny weddings so far! I've been having a fantastic time meeting all you lovely couples and your funny friends and families. There's so much to share in the next few weeks; there will be a big handful of new weddings going up in the gallery when I can catch my breath! If you ever want to use any props at your wedding or engagement session then feel free to bring things along like Sam and David did on their wedding day pictured above - perfect to put on their Thankyou cards for their guests.
I'm sharing a bit of 1920's bridal inspiration on the blog today! These are just a few images from the beautiful styled shoot we created at Heaton Mount in Bradford earlier this year. Venue styling was done by Donna from Ambience Venue Styling Bradford, the stunning dresses and accessories were provided by Evelyn Taylor bridal, with make-up by Pure Bliss mobile beauty.
Last month I had a fantastic time getting together with Claire Bush from Sweet Sugar Sixpence to plan an Autumn themed wedding inspiration shoot. We wanted to get lots of local businesses involved, and create something that was much more relaxed than the traditional wedding day scenario. We both love the colours and activities that Autumn brings, so went for a colourful, cosy, textured feel to the day.
